Stuart Properties is the commercial property arm of Stuarts Partners. Founded in 2012 with a vision of bringing good quality commercial property and space to businesses in the West Country.
First developments
The first ever development came with Kandy Toys, adding a new 50,000 square foot building with mezzanine level to the company. This doubled their storage capacity and meant they could expand their business.
Moving on to build units without a single potential occupier, Stuarts built two 20,000 square foot units and waited to see how successful they would be. Quickly they were filled with local businesses including Fix 247, Red Hot Products and Millbrook Healthcare.
Hot on that success, Still UKs headquarters were created.
Whilst all this work was going on to build the foundations of Stuarts Commercial into the success it is today, Stuarts also let out land to Mercedes; initially three acres, which quickly grew to seven.
Developing an industrial estate portfolio
Within the first two months of creation, Stuarts had bought it’s first industrial estate, Anna Mill; an ex-Royal Navy depot in a bit of a dilapidated state. Stuarts renovated the business park, which is now the home to many successful businesses such as printer Latimer Trend, charity furniture store Devon Refurnish, a gym, a cafe and many, many more.
We started looking in to the student accommodation market in Portsmouth and soon found our first site. In common with many large developments it took 3 years before we even started work. We converted a 1960’s 12 storey office block and associated annex building in to 242 high end student beds in a development of over £20m!
In November 2017, the purchase of Redlake Trading Estate sealed Stuarts’ reputation in commercial property. The business park includes charity tenants, a gym, artisan joiners, and a timber-framed housing maker highlighting the diversity of the tenants in Stuarts property.
The Future
Stuarts recently received outline planning permission for 36 houses next to one of its business parks and are about start working on a small food store and offices in Exeter.
The relationship with Mercedes has endured, as a conversion is undergoing an existing building at Hill Barton to provide a commercial vehicle workshop.
