Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year from Stuarts

Merry Christmas Newsletter

Seasons greetings!

From the whole team here at Stuarts, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic start to 2019.

We’ve had an absolutely incredible year which has seen some exciting developments for the company, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of you as our loyal customers.

Nothing means more to us than delivering results and meeting your needs, which is why we’ve been so pleased with all the positive feedback we’ve heard from you in 2018. This really has been one of our best years on record and that’s all thanks to you.

We care passionately about the work that we do but we never get complacent just because we receive glowing reviews. There’s always room for improvement and we’ve made a few New Year’s resolutions for the company, with the aim of improving the services we can offer you.

Any suggestions or comments are, as always, warmly welcomed!

Despite the doom and gloom around the state of the UK economy, we’re going into 2019 feeling very upbeat and positive. We’re determined to make the coming year every bit as successful as the year we’re seeing out, and that means upping our game.

We look forward to working with you throughout 2019 and really appreciate and value the ongoing support you have shown us.

Once again, on behalf of the whole team, we hope the festive period is filled with happiness and fun, and we wish you a prosperous New Year!

EMS have a new arrival!

EMS have a new arrival!

Great news at EMS!

We are proud to announce a new arrival!

We have recently welcomed a brand-new truck, the Volvo FL, to our skip hire fleet.

The Volvo FL is a medium-duty, small truck, which has been fitted with Webb skip-loading gear.

This agile and dependable truck is ideal for making deliveries and collections within busy urban areas, where traffic and development can create challenges for waste management equipment provision.

If you need our skip loading services, location is no issue. Whether you’re situated in a busy built-up city sprawl or a quieter more accessible rural area, at EMS we can help you.

Great Customer Service

Here at EMS, we are continually striving to expand our services and grow our fleet so that we can provide a wide range of options to meet customers’ needs. Flexible equipment options mean that we can be flexible in our provision.

Our new Volvo FL will help us meet this pledge, enabling us to reach more clients with minimum fuss.

Introducing Redlake Trading Estate, the latest addition to the Stuart Properties portfolio

Since 2012, Stuart Properties, the commercial property division of Stuart Partners, has provided quality commercial space for business all over the south west. Purchased in November 2017, the latest addition to the portfolio is Redlake Trading Estate, which is home to 10 bustling businesses.

The Redlake Trading Estate community has social impact at its heart, with charities and social enterprises occupying much of the space.

Here, we take a look at two of the businesses and how they serve their communities.

The Clay Factory

The Clay Factory has turned an old industrial site into a community hub for businesses, organisations, arts, food and events.

Surrounded by an inspiring landscape, its vibrant community of artists, startups and established businesses have fostered a creative, ambitious atmosphere.

Using its profits to make a social impact, it aids the good work of fellow Redlake Trading Estate tenant, The Eddystone Trust.

The Eddystone Trust

From safer sex resources to peer support and counselling, The Eddystone Trust provides heartfelt assistance to anyone affected by HIV across the South West.

It works hard to challenge the stigma, discrimination and misinformation that often comes with HIV and sexual health.

If someone is affected by HIV, The Eddystone Trust works with them to improve their quality of life. You can learn more about The Eddystone Trust here.

This is just a snapshot of daily life at Redlake Industrial Estate.

Other tenants include Western Tydens, Artisan Stairs and Joinery, Cannon Cases, Timber PAK, a gym, Wrangaton Body Works and Torpedo Training.

From doubling the storage capacity for our first development with Kandy Toys to the transformation of industrial sites across the West Country, Stuarts Properties has always looked for new ways to help businesses with their commercial space.

We enjoy working with all local businesses, especially some of the more diverse ones we have been fortunate enough to get to know more about.

A very Merry Christmas from Stuarts

A very Merry Christmas from Stuarts

With the big day fast approaching we thought we’d just take a minute to wish all of our customers – past, present and future – a very Merry Christmas.

2017 has been an amazing year for Stuarts with lots of exciting things happening; new commercial units purchased, the new Volvo depot opening in Roche, agricultural contracts, new vehicles and new equipment, staff and the build start of the huge recycling centre in Exeter. To say its been busy would be an understatement!

Although we are looking forward to the festive break we are also very excited for 2018 to see what the year brings. We hope it will be as productive and rewarding at the previous one and are keen to continue building on the professional relationships we have with many local businesses.

Certainly the opening of the new recycling centre for EMS in Exeter is something to look forward to and we will keep everyone notified of the progress and opening date.

A big thank you!

To our valued customers both in the local area and further afield we thank you very much for your support. Every customer is important to us and we strive to provide the best possible service that we can.

Those of you who have been happy with our service, we look forward to seeing you again over the coming year.Remember if you need any advice we are always on hand to help in any way we can.

So stock up on those Ferrero Rocher and remember Baileys might taste amazing but you might regret it in the new year!

Have a fantastic, relaxing time with your loved ones and we’ll look forward to seeing you again in 2018.

Recycled paper – what on Earth happens to it?

Recycled paper – what on Earth happens to it?

Recycled paper – what on Earth happens to it?

In this day and age, we should all understand the importance of recycled paper and its role in helping to combat deforestation.

However, once you place your waste paper in the recycling bin, you must be left wondering, “what on Earth happens to it now?”

Well, here’s a rundown of the recycling process:

The process of recycling paper

Once you place your waste paper in the recycling bin, it is collected by a waste management company. It is then taken to a waste recycling factory where it is separated based on the grade of the paper.

To remove anything like ink and glue, the paper is all bundled together and washed with soapy water. It is then placed in a large container where, when mixed with water, it becomes a sort of paste.

Different products are then added to the mix to turn it back into paper or create cardboard.

The slurry that remains after is rolled into long sheets before being left to dry. Afterwards, it is then cut into its necessary shape and repackaged, ready to be sold once again.

What is our role here at EMS Waste Services?

We deal with a lot of waste recycling services, and recycling paper is a core part of our company.

We have partnered with Cycle Link International to procure a lot of cardboard, and we do our best to recycle as much as possible.

Once it is all appropriately separated,
we send the cardboard up to our depot in Exeter.

Here it can be properly processed and baled.

We tend to find that a lot of this recycled cardboard and paper is shipped over to China, where they are in heavy need of sustainable sources of such materials.

Years of heavy demand in China, coupled with a lack of sustainability programmes, has left China with a lack of sustainable wood pulp sources with which to make their own paper.

We understand the importance of recycling and reusing paper and cardboard in struggling countries like China, and we are proud to be a part of the solution.

If you’d like to find out more about the services we have available, then please contact us on 01395 233748.

Bay Skips provides skips for The Big Plastic Fish Contest!

Bay Skips provides skips for The Big Plastic Fish Contest!

Bay Skips provides skips for The Big Plastic Fish Contest!

Bay Skips have provided both Torquay and Brixham Marinas with two lockable skips for their contest to collect plastic to help reduce pollution and protect marine life in the local area.

It is free to get involved, and the marina is encouraging members of the public to come down to either site. To join in the fun, simply bring along your own safety gear, a willing group of friends, and start fishing away for plastic! Once finished, you can deposit plastic in one of our skips provided at each site. You can attend as many times as you like from the 25th of August to the 1st of September, so why not spread a few brief visits out over the entire week?

The value of the work being undertaken at Torquay and Brixham Marinas should not be underestimated. According to a new Ellen MacArthur Foundation report, “at least 8 million tonnes of plastics leak into the ocean every year. Shockingly, this is equivalent to dumping the contents of an entire garbage truck into the ocean every minute. If no action is taken, this is expected to increase to two per minute by 2030 and four per minute by 2050”. This would be devastating for all sea life and would have an enormously detrimental effect on more than just our fishing industries. It would have a knock-on effect on our entire ecosystem, disrupting its fine balance and endangering countless species.

Ultimately, the foundation is now warning that there will be more waste plastic in the sea than fish by 2050 unless the industry cleans up its act. This is where clean-up schemes come in. Having more companies such as Bay Skips getting on board with such schemes as The Big Plastic Fish Contest is important in engendering a more ecologically friendly economy and educating people about their waste disposal habits. So come down and show your support today!
